Of counsel
Our advisors draw on over 14 years of experience, having worked in the field of international trade—initially within the International Trade Practices Unit (UPCI) of the Ministry of Economy, and subsequently within the private sector.
Ministry of Economy
At the Ministry of Economy, work has been carried out regarding the admission and processing of applications for anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, and safeguard investigations—covering sectors such as steel, agriculture, textiles, footwear, and chemicals—including the drafting of the relevant resolutions. Furthermore, there has been collaboration on various joint projects between the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit and the Ministry of Economy. These include participation in the working group tasked with drafting the Foreign Trade Law and its accompanying regulations, as well as the preparation of the “Agreement on the Identification of Tariff Headings under the General Import and Export Tax Law”—which classifies goods subject to anti-dumping duties—and the development of programs concerning customs control and inspection by industrial sector, under-invoicing, tariff classification, and technical standards, among other areas.
Trade Remedies México
At Trade Remedies Mexico, our expertise centers on administrative proceedings in the field of international trade, covering matters related to unfair international trade practices, economic competition, and customs issues. In the area of economic competition, we have successfully represented various distributors of LP gas, footwear, and apparel, as well as companies across the metallurgical and chemical industries. We have also handled administrative litigation before various federal and judicial authorities and served as external counsel for binational panels under NAFTA. Furthermore, we have collaborated with various industries on negotiations for international trade agreements, such as the CPTPP and the Mexico-Panama Agreement, among others.
